Two people have been rescued alive in Nepal nine days after a flash flood killed more than 1,200 people.

Sanjaya Shah and Kabir Maharjan have been airlifted directly to a hospital in Kathmandu, according to authorities.

Teams are still said to be working to rescue more people said to be trapped inside theTrishuli 3A Hydropower Plant.

Both of the workers are believed to have injuries on their hands and legs,‘possibly’ from crawling through the tunnel, authorities have told the BBC.

At least 39 others are expected to be rescued from the tunnel after rescuers heard voices early on Friday.

More than 150 others are still feared trapped at other hydropower sites in Nepal, however.
